15 days left...

It's exactly 15 days left until Romeo & Juliet opening night at The Berry Theatre in Hedge End. We have 8 more rehearsals left, which include our tech and dress rehearsals. Crazy! Because of this, this half term is dedicated to 10 hour rehearsals per day.

On Monday, we blocked in the transitions between scenes and concentrated on some more detail. From a cast members point of view, it was nice to see how the show has progressed since last seeing (or more like hearing it) at the read through. And so far, it's progressed really well because of the hard work being put in. The next few days are being concentrated on one Act per day, picking at the tiny detail that complete the scene. Today we looked at the Act One. It didn't feel like a 10 hour rehearsal because of the intense focus needed as there's no time to waste. It may sound tiring  repeating the same thing over and over again, but when with such short time we have no other choice. It does also pay off, from this morning to this evening there was a huge leap in progress. I think I speak on behalf of the cast when I say that the scenes, characters and character relationships are improving greatly.

The rest of the week will contain the same process, which is actually very exciting knowing that at the end of the week and at the beginning of next week we'll be able to start full run throughs.

Our PYT are also sounding better and better each time. Their version of One Direction's 'What makes you beautiful' is probably better than the original!

If you haven't got your tickets yet, I suggest you book! In an honest non-biased opinion, this is going to be one of the Point Youth Theatre's best shows to date.

Tickets available from www.theberrytheatre.co.uk
